The Nottingham Sports Team will be organizing its’ first ever female sports week, UNMC Women-Athlon. This event which is inspired by the ancient Heraean Games. The Haraean Games was the first sanctioned (and recorded) women’s athletic competition to be held in the stadium at Olympia, possibly in the Olympic year, prior to the men’s events. It is dated as early as the 6th century BC. In addition to that UNMC Women-Atlon will also be held in conjunction with the International Women’s Day that will be held on the 8th of March. It is certainly not the elves but UNMC’s very own students from various courses working to improve the quality of your student experience on campus. Compromising of 5 profiles, namely Transport, Health, Accommodation, Security and Food, the Welfare Network strives to upgrade existing services as well as to incorporate new services that would enhance your student life on campus. What’s more is that each profile is represented by one international and one home student. So, even if you’re an international or exchange student, we have you covered. We are happy to announce that the Bus Tracking App WhereIsMyBus App is now officially launched. It’s been in a closed beta test for sometime and now it’s ready to be launched. The University is looking into implementing a No Smoking policy on campus, under the University Administrative Policy. This policy will come into effect once it gets approved. The Bicycle Project

  Always wanted to ride a bicycle around campus but don’t know where you can rent one? Or do you own a bicycle and are looking for friends to ride along with? If you answered yes to one of these questions, then we have good news for you! Introducing, the Bicycle Project. The Bicycle Project is a student-led initiative under the supervision of the Sustainability Research Network (SRN) to cultivate the culture of cycling among UNMC students and staff. Through various activities and initiatives, the aim of the Bicycle Project is to implement a bicycle rental system on campus, increase the number of cyclists on campus, improve bicycle infrastructure on campus, as well as promote healthier lifestyle and environmental awareness among the campus community. Currently, we are engaging with students and staff via survey to gauge their interest on cycling to and around the campus. Our targeted group of commuters are those that live off-campus nearby UNMC and students living on-campus. Every survey counts as it is vital for us to collect data and take into account the information to be implemented with the Bicycle Project.
