Clubs and Societies Fair 2016

Clubs and Societies Fair 2016

Fancy booths, bunting, leaflets and posters. It is the time of the academic year again during which we are overwhelmed by a variety of choice, thinking to ourselves ‘which clubs and societies should I join?’ The Clubs and Societies Fair 2016 had been ongoing for two days, on the 5th and 6th October 2016, in the Undergraduate Leisure Area from 10am to 7pm. There were a total of 77 booths, 22 Sports Clubs and 55 Societies respectively, that had gathered together to offer an amazing palette of selection for each and every one who dropped by. With such a wide range of choices, it is impossible not to find one which you will be interested in. While each booth was busy promoting and explaining their own uniqueness, there were also captivating and exciting live performances happening on the showcasing platform. It ranged from the energetic dance performance by the Nottingham Dance Club (NDC), the showcase of enthusiastic cheerleading moves by the Cheerleading Club to the sonorous choir singing by the Music Society. Be sure to note down the induction events in your diary – you wouldn’t want to miss your first date!     By Yap Jia Ming Head of Editorial and Design SA Marketing and Communication...
SA Fresher’s Week 2016

SA Fresher’s Week 2016

The annual SA Fresher’s Week from 26th of September to 29th of September saw over 500 participants from all three campuses come together for an exciting week of games, outdoor activities and, in the true spirit of Malaysia, a great variety of fusion and traditional cuisine from our many different cultures. Day 1: Several performances by our very own Nottingham Dance Society (NDC) and Music Society (Mussoc)! There was also a tutorial by the NDC during which we saw many talented dancers in the crowd 😉 Day 2: A night of cultural exchange themed ‘Colors of UNMC’ where traditional games such as Batu Seremban and Congkak as well as local cuisine were shared with all our participants. There was also a ‘Language Exchange’ session during which different cultures taught each other their own languages Day 3: Many of our participants had their first ice-skating and laser-tag experience at Sunway Pyramid! Day 4: The SA Carnival involved a variety of food and games – even a Karaoke Booth and a station where you get to throw water balloons at our SA Executives! There was also a ‘limbo’ station – look at how flexible this guy is! We hope everyone had a blast!   Lim Hong Cheong Head of Marketing & Communications (Photo credits: Yap Jia...

How to use the Clubs and Societies Catalog [Pro Tips]

How to use the Clubs and Societies Catalog [Pro Tips]

Since the Clubs and Societies catalog has been published online there are a few questions that are being raised that we would like to address. This is mostly meant for new students who are not aware of how the Clubs and Societies operate. How it used to operate is that Clubs and Societies have a Fair; Clubs and Societies Fair (CS Fair) every year close to the start of the academic year. This is where registration and signups take place. You physically browse and signup to the clubs that you want to sign up for. This year the change is that Clubs and Societies have been listed online with their signup forms as well. Allowing for all students to sign up at anytime from anywhere before and after the CS Fair happens if they are really interested. There is a misconception that when you fill out the form you are a member. This is incorrect. Once you fill up the form you are doing a pre-signup. You officially become a member once the signup fees are paid which will be done at the CS Fair at the Clubs and Societies’ respective booths on the 5th and 6th of October. Sign up fees vary from club to club. Generally it’s sports clubs RM 20 and non sports clubs 10++ You can signup to as many clubs as societies that you want and there is no restriction on that. Some clubs are more active some are less active. Make the best decision that fits your preference. We’d advise you all to try out new things and experience new things. Remember that...
