Well, look no further as IEM’s (The Institution of Engineers Malaysia) got you covered with their Escape Room!   Held on the 26th to 28th of November, the Escape Room allows participants to team up in a group of three to five to brainstorm together and solve various puzzles throughout the game. This event also gives students the opportunity to enjoy and experience the thrill and suspense of an Escape Room without having to travel far, as it is held in room H1B024 of the campus. IEM members only have to pay RM10 as entrance fee, while non-members are only required to pay RM15. Participants are able to book in any time slots between 5pm to 10pm. Titled “Trapped Amidst the Cold War”, this Escape Room puts you and your friends into the shoes of US spies infiltrating the Soviet Union military base. Your objective is to steal information about hostages that are locked inside a safe. In order to unlock the 4-digit combination lock on the safe, participants are required to solve various puzzles to obtain a digit in each of the 4 rooms respectively. The first team to solve all the puzzles successfully within the time frame and win the game receives a free subway coupon. UONM PharmNotts Blood Donation Drive

UONM PharmNotts Blood Donation Drive

There is no greater joy than saving a life, three lives to be specific.  Donating blood is regarded as one of the purest deeds someone can do. UNMC PharmNotts organised a blood donation drive in collaboration with Pusat Darah Negara (PDN) with the aim of saving the lives of the unfortunate. The Undergraduate Room (UG Room) was utilised for the blood donation from the 26 November 2018 to 27 November 2018, 10am-4pm. Students started flooding in as early as 10 am on both days, leaving the staff from PDN occupied until 4.00pm. While there are people who are sceptical on donating blood, our students had no such qualms as many students came to support the event. Some students went back with a heavy heart as they were rejected based on their blood type. The students who did manage to donate left grinning ear to ear with a full and content heart.  Prior to the blood donation process, procedures were followed to prevent any confusion for both the donors and the recipients. Light refreshments were provided by PDN post-donation as some donors tend to feel faint after a substantial amount of blood has been removed from their circulation.  Trivial mistakes that occur during the screening process can result in severe post-donation reactions that can be detrimental to the donor’s health. Two days of the blood donation drive brought in positive responses from the students and staff of the university. It has been truly heart-warming to see both students and staff flooding in to donate blood. This small act of generosity makes a huge difference in another person’s life. A life...

Intramural 3 on 3

Intramural 3 on 3

The basketball court was filled with the thump of dribbling, the buzz of the shot clock and the raucous cheering of fans. Last Thursday, the preliminary rounds from the Intramural 3-on-3 basketball competition was held by UONM’s own Basketball Club. Using only half a court, the intense seven-minute game played out with several teams going head to head to proceed to the final rounds. Three players on both the offensive and defensive side tried  their best to outwit the other using a mix of strategy and speed. Seventeen teams made up the competition with interim periods of rest deciding who was on the court. As each team banded together to win the prize pool, there remained a palpable feeling of tension in the air. As the day drew to a close, the remaining teams awaited the final rounds with fierce determination....
