“All’s well that ends well.” With this, we have successfully come to the end of an exhilarating event, UON Malaysia’s Nations Cup. What taxing and stressful 3 weeks has it been? With students constantly running around getting their tasks done and preparing teams for the games, it has been tiring but enjoyable all around. After all, it’s all in the game.

On the 9 November 2018 at 6.25pm, the students of UON Malaysia witnessed the closing ceremony of the 2018 Nations Cup. It was held at our very own sports complex; not only the participants were present, but they brought friends along to spectate the games. As the saying goes, the more the merrier. Leaving behind piling amount of academic engagements, these students came down to lend their unyielding support for the campus events.

Choir has always been a crowd puller at all events. UON Malaysia’s very own choir team gave an excellent performance that truly amazed the spectators. The performance showcased by the choir team truly proves that our students are definitely all-rounders and not just academically inclined.

Next up, the cheerleading. Cheerleading is surely one event that all people look forward to, from primary school right up to university. Those cheerleaders performing stunts startles everyone. Our very own cheerleading team isn’t anything less, as they truly impressed everyone with their well-coordinated and choreographed moves. Let me tell you, this takes a lot of effort, determination and the willingness to perform risky mind-blowing stunts.

Another activity which got people moving had to be Zumba. This is becoming a hype nowadays, isn’t it? Most events somehow incorporate Zumba into it. Zumba at the closing ceremony actually got people to dance their moves out. It actually helps to release all those tensions that been building up in your muscles resulting from sitting all day long in lectures. To make things fun, our very own SA executives joined in the fun.

Last but not the least, all events should end with an appreciation. The prize giving ceremony was conducted to make students feel that they are always appreciated for their efforts. Individuals and teams were presented with gifts. Malaysia emerged as champions, followed by Egypt and Sri Lanka, their faces were brimming with joy as they received their trophies.

A finishing line is the beginning of a whole new race. With this, we have come to the end of the 2018 Nations Cup. It has been a ground-breaking journey for many, to each and every one involved, you deserve a round of applause.

“Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.”- Vince Lombardi
